Farm Visits - Things to Know for Group Visits

Instructions for Group Visits

Thank you for choosing all a flutter butterfly farm for your field trip! We are excited about serving your group, and want to pass along some information to you before your visit to make things flow smoothly upon your arrival.

If you plan to have lunch or a snack at the farm, we have eleven picnic tables available, and also open space to bring blankets for an "old fashioned" picnic in the country. If you are joining us for a family show the picnic facilities are available 30 minutes before and after each show.

We ask that you teach your children the importance of composting before your visit, and any compost able materials from their lunch sacks should be deposited in our compost garden. Any fruit or vegetable peels and cores will be the items they will most likely have.

When you arrive, please see the farm attendant in charge and pay them the entrance fees. We accept cash and checks ONLY. Adults are $6 each, children and senior citizens are $5 each, children under 2 years old are free. Teachers and bus drivers are free. Please let parents know so that they will have their fees ready. Receipts always available for larger groups.

When you are ready for your tour to begin, have your group seat themselves in the presentation area where the wooden benches are below the flight house. The program begins here. The presentation and tour lasts approximately one hour.

If your group is over 40 people, the farm attendant will split everyone into smaller groups to view the butterflies. Toys are provided, but if you have a large group and want to bring extras, feel free.

We do sell life cycle kits for $20 each includes the habitat, 2 monarch eggs, and a milkweed plant to grow your own monarch butterfly. The kit comes with complete instructions. If any children wish to purchase the kits, we will need to know the number 3 days in advance of your visit. Lifecycle kits will be available beginning April-13th for the 2012 season.

If on the day of your scheduled visit, it is raining at 8 a.m., please call the farm at 336-454-5651 or Nora's cell 336-906-8660 to reschedule your tour. Our flight house is not covered, and the experience in the wet rain is not as fun for the children.

Port-a-potties and hand sanitizers are available at the farm. Our flight house is handicap-accessible also.

If you have any other questions, please give us a call. Thank you and we look forward to entertaining your group!
